I remember the early summer of 1981-I was apartment sitting for a friend on W. 45th St., I was walking towards 8th Ave to get a pack of cigarettes. I saw a couple in their late 40s-the man obviously quite drunk-his wife came up to me and asked if I wanted to see Little Foxes she needed to get her husband back to the 'burbs to sleep it off. I said sure, please, thank you! I was already bit by the acting bug but was still uncertain as to what I'd do with my life (I still don't have that one down yet!) Anyway I saw an exquisite production-directed by Austin Pedleton starring Maureen Stapelton and of course the arresting and enchanting Elizabeth Taylor. Now I just wish my Mom had been with me-knowing how much she loved Liz. After the performance ( which was amazing !) I waited with the sea of other people awaiting Liz's exit onto the street .When she arrived she had a sort of force field around her- an unbelievable charisma that I had never seen before or since .She had a radiant smile and yes her eyes were violet ! A memory I shall never forget. R.I. P. Elizabeth Taylor- a TRUE movie star !
